The Hype About Drinking Water
We all heard to drink water. Apparently, drinking water will fix all of our health and skin issues. But is it true?
Water is essential for our bodies. Water makes up about 60% of our body weight. Because nearly all of the body’s major systems depend on water to function and survive, we need to drink an adequate amount of water daily.
Everyday, we lose on average 8 to 12 cups of water through breathing, perspiring, and urine and bowel movements. Possible factors that increase your need to drink water are exercise, hot weather, high altitude, a high-fiber diet, and increased losses from caffeine and alcohol intake.
That is why everyone says to drink at least 8 cups of water a day!
But are there other benefits of drinking water?
Yes, many!
Water regulates your body temperature. It carries nutrients and oxygen to cells and dissolves minerals and nutrients to make them accessible to your body. It also lessens the burden on the kidneys and liver by flushing out waste products. Water also protects body organs and tissues, moistens tissues in the eyes, nose and mouth, and lubricates joints.
Now, we know why drinking water is important. Water is vital to our health. Without water, we would be sluggish and not performing at our best.
